Ask the Boss

  • NZHL
  • 26th of November 2015

In last month's newsletter we put it out there that if anyone had questions to ask our new CEO to flick them through and we'd answer them in a regular 'Ask the Boss' column.

Just so you know who 'the Boss' is, it's this guy, Julian Travaglia..... You can check out Julians full bio here but with over 25 years experience in the financial services industry with National Bank (now ANZ), AMP Financial Services and AIG he has a wealth of knowledge and experience to draw on.

Q: When will we be able to link NZHL accounts to Xero bank feeds – Leigh

A: Good news Leigh – the team tell me that since the end of 2013 Xero have been able to link to our accounts. Just go to this page on the Xero website  http://help.xero.com/NZHomeloansFeed and complete the authority form and send it off to Xero at bankfeeds@xero.com or mail to Xero Limited, PO Box 24 537, Wellington 6142 and they’ll be able to get that all sorted for you.

Q: When will you be getting a debit / credit card- various

A: We currently have a credit card in pilot phase. Based on the results of the pilot we hope to be able to offer it to new clients early in 2016 and to existing clients April 2016. We are currently investigating a debit card option and hope to have some news regarding this mid 2016.

Q: What will interest rates do over the next year or so - various

A: I could take an educated guess as to what I think interest rates are going to do, we all could infact, but the fact of the matter is I'm not an economist and not qualified to say what they might or might not do. I know that interest rates are a hot topic and something that affects us all (although hopefully using our system they affect our clients less so), so I'm going get a qualified economist to give us their thoughts, not only on interest rates but the entire economy as a whole, as it is never one thing in isolation. Keep an eye out for it in upcoming newsletters and blog posts.
