Decluttering and what to do with your clutter

Decluttering is huge, many books and blogs have been dedicated to it but once you've decluttered, what do you do with all your 'clutter'. As they say, one persons trash is another persons treasure. Here are some ways you can dispose of your clutter.

Op shops / Charity shops

These places generally take a variety of things including clothes, furniture and other household items. Many of them will even come and collect if you have large items or large amounts of things to donate

Sell

If your items are good enough condition selling them and making a bit of money from your decluttering exercise can be a great idea. There are loads of different ways to sell these days like:

  • Garage sale
  • Car boot sale
  • TradeMe
  • Facebook buy/sell pages

Gift on

Maybe you know people who would find some of your things useful? A friend who has a child that would fit the clothes yours has outgrown? Someone starting out flatting? Gifting on so that your items get more use is a great alternative to them ending up in landfill.
